AN AURIGNY plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Gatwick after the aircraft experienced technical issues.

As a result, the airline's evening flights from Gatwick and Manchester were cancelled, as was the 8.30 flight to Gatwick this morning.

Managing director Malcolm Hart, pictured, said the aircraft was carrying spares to repair the airline's other inoperative ATR.

'As a matter of safety and procedure, the crew called a full emergency, but the aircraft landed safely and all passengers have been provided with overnight accommodation and alternative travel arrangements.

'As a result of this second technical difficulty, we did not have the aircraft available to operate flights GR609 and GR679 and have provided alternative arrangements for those passengers seeking to fly from Gatwick and Manchester.'
