Serious accident avoided as lorry's wheels come off

A LORRY that suffered a broken axle could have caused a serious accident yesterday, a witness said.

A LORRY that suffered a broken axle could have caused a serious accident yesterday, a witness said.

The vehicle broke down along Portinfer Road in the afternoon.

Guernsey Police received a call at 2.30pm.

Two of its vehicles were sent to the scene, along with a police motorbike.

A 28-year-old man who was in his car following the David Lesbirel lorry said he saw it tip and two of the left-rear wheels came off.
