THE principal of Blanchelande College, Patrick Harland, has resigned after 18 months in the role.

The board of trustees has written to parents informing them of Mr Harland's decision.

They said Mr Harland, pictured, had made the board aware that his family had not settled in Guernsey and it had agreed to his request to resign.

Mr Harland started working for Blanchelande on 1 September 2010 and was appointed 'principal designate' the following month.

He has moved back to the UK with his family so as to move on to the next stage in his career.

The trustees confirmed that Andrew Warren, the former vice-principal, was now acting principal.
