Fishing boat impounded within Guernsey waters

LEGAL proceedings will be taken against the skipper of a Brixham-registered trawler that was impounded yesterday.

Sea Fisheries escorted the Becky Lou to St Peter Port Harbour yesterday evening.

It is alleged that the fishing vessel was operating within Guernsey's new three- to 12-mile limit, which came into force for the first time on 1 February.

A Commerce and Employment spokeswoman said the case was likely to go to court this afternoon.

The Becky Lou arrived in St Peter Port Harbour with the Sea Fisheries' Leopardess just before 5pm yesterday.
