SCRAPPING formal postal regulation entirely should be looked at, Guernsey Post chief executive Boley Smillie has said.
The Channel Island Competition and Regulatory Authorities has cut the utility's annual licence fee from £180,000 to £90,000 and is consulting on plans to abolish price controls and instead focus on the quality of the service provided.
Mr Smillie, pictured, said the fee was paid in monthly instalments and the company would benefit from the change from the start of next month.
'It is a step in the right direction,' he said.
But he was keen to see the regulator go further and no longer be under Cicra's mandate.
