SARK would be much stronger as an economy and community if the dispute between the establishment and Sark Estate Management was resolved, the island's first full-time civil servant has said.

As Colin Kniveton today completes his four-month contract in Sark, he gave the Guernsey Press an exclusive interview about his work and the recommendations he is leaving behind.

He also gave an 'outsider's' take on the long-running feud between members of the establishment and Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay's Sark investment company.

Mr Kniveton, pictured, confirmed that he had met the Barclay family's local representative, Sark Estate Management managing director Kevin Delaney.

'Sark would be much stronger as an economy and as a community if this dispute with SEM and the Barclay brothers is resolved,' he said.
