TWO men thrown out of a Vale pub for picking on a regular waited for their victim to leave and attacked him and two of his friends with a baseball bat, a licensee has confirmed.

One of the individuals targeted was a pensioner, while the other was 60 years old.

Police confirmed that two men had been arrested in connection with the incident, which happened in the lane next to Le Coq du Nord.

Pub licensee Tony Smyth said the assault had left the staff and other regulars dismayed.

'Everybody is so upset about it and very irate,' he said.

'I have been here for three years and we have never had that kind of trouble. I can't believe anybody would do that.'
