Sark's General Purposes chairman to stand down

SARK'S General Purposes and Advisory Committee chairman Charles Maitland will resign next month.

The conseiller said the decision was not an easy one to make but 'exhaustion' had played a big part.

'It has been extremely challenging and quite stressful but I have done things I have never done before and met lots of interesting people.

'I hope I have helped Sark but one can only do as much as one can,' he said. 'I had a hip operation in October and haven't really had a chance to fully recover,' he said.

As the GP&A chair, Mr Maitland, pictured, has been working towards the reform of Sark's administration.
