VALE Infants and Junior schools will be merged from September into one primary, Education said yesterday.

Parents received letters announcing the move yesterday – on the day the schools broke up for Easter – one from Vale Infants head teacher Jasmine Bynam and the other from her Vale Junior counterpart, Gary Hind.

Mrs Bynam is to step down on 31 March.

She said yesterday: 'I've worked in education for 41 years and have loved every minute of it. I am incredibly sad to leave this school. I will miss the children, staff and parents so much.'

Education confirmed it 'was notified yesterday that Jasmine Bynam's role as head teacher of Vale Infants School will come to an end'.
