AN EXHAUSTED civil servant has raised thousands of pounds for charity despite falling short of an incredible 100-mile trek around the Footes Lane track in 24 hours.

Guernsey FC steward Garry Adams limped onto the pitch on Saturday just before the FA Vase semi-final against Spennymoor Town, having just finished the epic challenge for men's cancer charity Male Uprising Guernsey (Mug).

The 53-year-old was visibly emotional after completing more than 70 miles of non-stop walking in the cold and wet overnight.

'It was really, really hard,' he said. 'I was disappointed I didn't do 100 miles, but I didn't stop for 24 hours.'
