A MAN was taken to hospital with minor head injuries after Union Street Stores was robbed yesterday afternoon.

A MAN was taken to hospital with minor head injuries after Union Street Stores was robbed yesterday afternoon.

Police imposed a lockdown on the Town street for more than two hours.

The area was sealed off as a crime scene and officers were posted at all access points to stop people from going near the shop.

The incident happened about 2.50pm.

A man stole the till and made off, it is believed in the direction of Constitution Steps.

Police recovered the till later.

The suspect is described as being a white male in his 20s, about 6ft tall wearing a light blue sports type jacket.
