TEACHERS are pleased to have hopes of a first-class education system endorsed by the department's new vision, their union representative has said.
However, NASUWT secretary Caroline Bowker, pictured, said they would wait to see more detail about plans for a Guernsey system of local management of schools and the future of the 11-plus.
'Obviously, the vision matches what teachers have been saying for years – we're all trying to strive for an education system that is fit for the future, we're all trying to strive to provide an excellent learning environment,' she said.
'I'm pleased to see they are thinking about ways in which education is delivered and whether selection and the 11-plus is sensible. But there is a long way to go and I hope they discuss their plans with us and that they are open to ideas.'
