THE White House Hotel has opened its doors for the 2013 season, starting with a busy Easter weekend and the annual Herm egg hunt.
Dozens of children gathered in the Ship Inn for the start of the event. More and more youngsters take part each year, according to hotel manager Sion Dobson Jones. Many holiday in the island every Easter, but lots more come over from Guernsey just for the day.
Due to the large, chocolate-hungry crowd, the hunt took place outdoors on the hotel lawn.
The weather was no deterrent and the children were well bundled up in the cold spring sunshine.
All found little chocolate eggs and several got extra prizes. There was even a little bit of help from the Easter Bunny.
Residents Lesley and Andrew Bailey used the busy weekend to raise some money for charity. They were up early on Good Friday baking hot cross buns for island residents and guests.
In June, the Baileys will be doing a 100km walk from London to Brighton.
The challenge is to complete the walk in less than 30 hours.
They will be fundraising until then for the British Heart Foundation and all the bun money will go towards that cause.
We also remembered the real meaning of Easter, with the Rev. Richard Bellinger holding a Sunday morning service in St Tugual's Chapel, the first regular service of the summer season.
Mr Bellinger also held a preparatory service the day before, during which visitors were invited to help create an Easter garden.
