The Environment Department's latest open planning meeting takes place this morning, with plans to demolish the four derelict properties in Vale Avenue as one of the main items to be discussed.

But while Guernsey Electricity are keen to knock down the buildings, planners are recommending that this application is refused.

However, the planning team have approved an application to develop a four-storey block of 17 flats at Coupee Lane in St Peter Port. There have been several objections to the plans. Today's meeting will make the final decision and we'll have a report in tomorrow's paper.

Photographer Martin Parr is in the island today to open an exhibition of photos he took of Liberation Day in the island. We'll be going along to Candie Museum to meet him and there'll be a report in tomorrow.

Sark's Chief Pleas meets tomorrow and today we're going through the agenda to give a preview of what's being discussed.

We're also looking at the cancellation of operations at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital so far this year, seeing how many have been affected and what will be happening in the immediate future.

And Les Bourgs Hospice has bought itself a new minibus with funds raised from various initiatives, so we'll be up there to take a look at the new vehicle and get a photo or two.

Tomorrow's sports section features a report on tonight's Guernsey FC match against Farnham Town.

There'll also be a write-up on the Priaulx League match between Bels and Vale Rec at the Track. No matter what the score, Bels will be presented with the league champion's cup after the game.

And the other important match in the league is between St Martin's and North, which will go a long way towards deciding which of the two teams finishes third in the league and so goes forward to play in the Wheway Cup.
