ALDERNEY'S Policy Committee has produced the island's first draft strategic plan, designed eventually to underpin all decision-making by the States.

It was created after the States commissioned a report from an external auditor on the workings of government in Alderney.

Former UK Audit Commission director Stephen Taylor's first recommendation was that the States introduce a more robust strategic planning process into the organisation.

Paul Arditti, chairman of the Policy Committee, pictured, said the document answered repeated calls by residents for a comprehensive strategic plan, and its creation would mean the States would be able better to utilise talent on the island.
