SEVEN of Alderney's nine standing politicians have put their names to a motion to oust Policy Committee leader Paul Arditti from office.

All of the Policy Committee, bar Mr Arditti's fellow Alderney representative Louis Jean, who was not invited, met on 29 April to sign a censure motion to the effect that they no longer had confidence in him as chairman of the group.

All other States members, again except Mr Jean, then backed the motion and Mr Arditti, pictured, who was on holiday at the time of the meeting, was informed.

But Mr Arditti replied saying he had no intention of tendering his resignation: 'I am ready, willing and able to account for my actions fully to the public at the States meeting on 22 May and I shall place my trust in my fellow States members to keep an open mind' he said.
