Guernsey's better job market the magnet for graduates

SCARCE job opportunities in the UK and other countries is one of the reasons why Guernsey has seen a high level of graduates return to the island to work, the Education minister has said.
A survey conducted by the grants section of the department and analysed by the Careers Service, showed that two-thirds of 195 graduates were now living back in Guernsey.
Minister Robert Sillars, pictured, said the positive figure could be down to a whole range of reasons, including personal ones. But he said it could also be down to struggling economies elsewhere.
'The UK and other jurisdictions are having very difficult times with employment and Guernsey is doing relatively well compared to those so, yes, you would rather come back to Guernsey.'
