A 20-YEAR-OLD Alderney man carried out an attempted revenge knife attack just eight days after being released from custody, a Royal Court judge ruled yesterday.

Daniel Robinson, who spent six months on remand last year while waiting to be sentenced for taking a car without permission and other motoring offences, had gone to see his former friend, Daniel Gates, whom he believed had also been involved in the crimes.

He entered Mr Gates's bedroom carrying a kitchen knife.

Robinson, of Les Champignons, Petit Val, Alderney, denied assaulting and threatening to kill Mr Gates, saying it was his former friend who was the aggressor in the incident.

But he was found guilty by Judge Russell Finch, who said Mr Gates, who was not injured during the attack, had been an 'impressive' witness.

The case was adjourned for sentencing to a date in July.
