Education: No decisions here on GCSE changes until 2015
GUERNSEY can 'pick and choose' from planned changes to GCSEs in England, the Education minister has said.
GUERNSEY can 'pick and choose' from planned changes to GCSEs in England, the Education minister has said.
Deputy Robert Sillars said a proposed shake-up of exams in England from 2015 would not necessarily affect students immediately in Guernsey. He said Guernsey was a separate jurisdiction with its own curriculum framework.
Scotland has its own exam system and Wales and Northern Ireland have so far said that they are not planning on adopting the new English system.
'There are many options to be considered in a professional and timely way, taking into account all avenues for our young people,' Deputy Sillars said. 'We are currently reviewing the curriculum and looking at developments in England and other jurisdictions but as yet have made no decisions about the way forward from 2015.'
