CYCLISTS were yesterday calling on islanders to 'get on their bike' for a healthy and environmentally friendly commute to work.
Guernsey Bicycle Group members said existing cyclists and employers should help encourage car commuters to use pedal power rather than engine power as part of National Bike Week.
They are also urging cyclists to have their say during the consultation into the island's transport strategy.
Group chairman Rollo de Sausmarez said it was crucial to help free up the roads of car traffic.
'When anyone leaves the car at home, everyone wins,' he said.
