Eight down, 12 to go: amendments to the Policy Council's report on population look set to keep the States occupied throughout today and into tomorrow.

Our reporters are in the chamber, and throughout the day you can follow @GuernseyPress on Twitter for updates on the debate's progress.

We'll have a summary of the discussions in tomorrow's Press.

Guernsey Police will introduce us to its latest recruit today – police dog Ike. We'll be going along to get pictures of him and his handler, and we'll also be finding out what life in retirement holds in store for Ike's predecessor.

Elizabeth College continues to celebrate its 450th anniversary today, by holding a 'Proms in the Park' event tonight at the College Field. This music event and picnic includes the whole school and we'll be there with a photographer for a report tomorrow.

With a big weekend ahead for motor sport we'll have previews of the charity hill climb at Le Val des Terres, and the sprint race at Vazon.

We'll also be joining the Lieutenant Governor's wife, Lynda Walker, as she helps the Guernsey Voluntary Service deliver Meals on Wheels today.

Tomorrow's paper will also have the latest from the Royal Court, where the trial continues in which rugby player Thomas Pool denies causing grievous bodily harm.

The sports section tomorrow will include details of the draw for the Ravenscroft Open Matchplay Golf Championship.

There'll also be the results and report of the Guernsey Press Star Trophy golf competition, which concludes today.

And there's a preview of the Carey Olsen inter-island yacht race this weekend.
