ALDERNEY ELECTRICITY has overcharged Guernsey by more than £110,000 during the last six years.
A 'clerical error' was blamed for the blunder.
The company has revealed an accounting mistake meant it double-billed the States of Guernsey between 2006 and 2012 for electricity charges at Alderney Airport.
Chairman Mike Richards said Treasury and Resources would be repaid straight away, but it would take Alderney Electricity roughly two-and-a-half years to build its cash flow back up.
'I am sorry this has occurred. It is a historic situation which arose from a clerical error made before any of the current board or employees were in post,' he said.
