Treasury yesterday confirmed the circumstances behind the £114,000 Alderney Electricity overcharge.
It said responsibility for monitoring the electricity accounts at Alderney Airport rests with PSD, which did query the amount at the time of billing.
Alderney Electricity has agreed to pay back the money over the next seven months, the department added.
'At the time that the overcharging began, PSD had just installed a sub-station and increased airfield ground lighting system at Alderney Airport, which included the fitting of a new meter,' it said.
