AFTER losing her father to coronary heart disease, Lesley Bailey wanted to raise money for and awareness of the battle against the condition.
With the support of her husband Andrew, the couple, both 50, took on a 62-mile non-stop trek from London to Brighton.
More than 500 people took to the hills and paths for the British Heart Foundation's second annual trek.
'Taking part in the BHF's London to Brighton Trek was an incredible experience. It was a tough challenge, but the atmosphere over the weekend was brilliant and knowing we were walking for such a great cause made us determined to succeed,' said Mrs Bailey.
'We are very proud to have been part of this event, knowing that our sponsorship money will now help fund vital research needed to fight heart disease.'
BHF had originally hoped to raise £125,000 from the event. However, due to the fantastic response of its fundraisers, it has already reached more than £200,000.
