GUERNSEY children might soon be able to learn Mandarin at school.

GUERNSEY children might soon be able to learn Mandarin at school.

The Education Department is liaising with the Chinese government about improving links and the potential of local students learning the language.

A delegation from the Chinese Embassy, including Minister Counsellor of Education Shen Yang, is visiting the island.

Mr Yang said he was keen to work with Guernsey.

He added that teaching Mandarin in Guernsey would benefit the economy.
