A NEW autism outreach service will provide 'vital support' for those diagnosed with the condition in Guernsey, families and campaigners have said.

The service was officially launched yesterday as a joint initiative between Autism Guernsey and the National Autistic Society (NAS) Guernsey branch to bring help to individuals and families at home.

It aims to coordinate personalised support and target gaps in existing services in Guernsey, such as help with parenting issues.

Autism Guernsey executive director Andy Graham said there were services already available in the island, such as occupational or speech and language therapy, but the charity aims to fill any gaps and to provide tailored support.
