ALDERNEY'S former Policy Committee chairman has said he will act as unofficial 'scrutineer' to the States of Alderney.
Paul Arditti, pictured, who was ousted from the Policy Committee after seven members signed a vote of no confidence in him, said he believed that was what the public wished him to do.
Mr Arditti is an Alderney Representative and chairman of the Scrutiny Committee in Guernsey.
'I have consulted widely and I have been helped enormously by the island's other public-minded States member, Louis Jean. While I have no voice – other than at States meetings, where most members are guaranteed not to listen – I feel that I could be useful to the public as a scrutineer – continuing my efforts to improve the transparency and accountability of States members.
'It has been some 15 years since an Alderney States member has not been a member of any of its committees.'
