A THREE-car smash on Town's main roundabout caused traffic chaos yesterday lunchtime.

No-one was seriously injured in the accident at the Weighbridge roundabout, but two women were taken to hospital with whiplash.

The accident – involving a Toyota RAV4, Subaru Outback and Mercedes B180 – caused severe tailbacks for nearly half an hour at around 1.10pm.

The ambulance service's acting senior officer Dean De La Mare said they took two women, who were visitors to the island, to hospital with whiplash injuries.

'Another lady was treated at the scene by paramedics, but did not need to go to A&E,' he said.

All the emergency services responded to the crash. PC Andy Telford said all three vehicles were quickly cleared from the roundabout, clearing the queues of traffic.
