We'll be keeping in touch with Guernsey Police today as their investigation continues into the theft of a scaffolding firm's lorry which was later found burnt out.

A reward is being offered for information leading to a prosecution of the perpetrators, and we'll have more about that in the story in tomorrow's Press.

The South Show opens for its annual two-day run at the St Martin's Community Centre today, with highlights of the day's activities including the bonny baby competition. We'll have a report in tomorrow's paper, with more to follow on Monday on tomorrow's activities.

Tonight sees the annual Harbour Carnival in St Peter Port, with the usual fun events such as the man-powered flight competition and the duck race likely to attract thousands to the sea front. There'll be a two-page spread of photos in the paper on Monday.

We're also going to be getting more reaction to the vandalism of the memorial plaque which was ripped off the wall at the White Rock. It's been recovered, and today we'll be asking what steps can be taken to protect it in future.

Also today we'll be investigating problems being faced by first time home buyers and going along to the L'Ancresse shooting range, where work will be undertaken to rid the area of the invasive hottentot fig plant.

It's Guernsey FC's first match in the Ryman League South division tomorrow afternoon, with a 1pm kick-off for the away game against Herne Bay. We'll have a preview of the game in tomorrow's sports pages.
