ST SAMPSON'S Infants' School PTA met last night to discuss how to hit back at the Education Department's proposals to close their school.

Outgoing PTA chairwoman Rosie Jump said the meeting was productive and they were 'fired up' to save the school.

'We will be liaising with other PTAs, as we feel that the proposed closures of St Sampson's Infants and St Andrew's affects the whole island, not just the schools, parishes and their parishioners,' she said.

Ms Jump will be stepping down tomorrow as leader of the PTA because her daughter has moved to Vale Primary but said she would keep fighting for the school which had given her child such a good educational grounding.

A new chairperson will be elected at tomorrow's PTA annual general meeting, which will start at 7pm at the school.

At 7.30pm the meeting will be opened up to the public. Ms Jump said the PTA was keen for anyone from the school community to come along.
