Chip shop owner hopes £20k extractor will solve planning woes

A £20,000 extractor fan could end the planning problems for New Kingfisher Fish and Chip Shop owner Alan Opie.

But his chips will rack up a couple more food miles under the plans.

A planning application has been submitted to allow state-of-the-art extraction equipment to be installed inside the L'Eree business.

Mr Opie said the extractor was a big investment, but he had taken out a 10-year lease on the property and he wanted to do all he could to make the business work.

However, the extractor will take up space inside the property, which is currently used for peeling potatoes. To compensate, Mr Opie plans to rent part of the former Cobo Butchers premises on a 10-year lease, to run alongside the L'Eree rental agreement.
