THE new States chief executive is in line for a £140,000 a year salary plus a potential relocation package that has been described as fair, but quite basic.
Details of the salary were confirmed by the Policy Council, which had previously used exemptions in the new information code to justify not releasing the pay deal of the other new top post that needs to be filled, that of Policy Council chief officer.
The Guernsey Press has seen an internal advertisement that put the salary for that job at £130,235. Despite advertising for applications with a 19 August deadline, the council has now decided to wait until the chief executive is selected before appointing the chief officer.
Details of the relocation package being offered for the new chief executive, who will replace Mike Brown when he steps down next year, have been posted on the States' website – it includes removal expenses, rent allowance and housing benefit.
Quintessential Relocation Consultants managing director Jo Stoddart, who works with the private sector, said an average private sector relocation package would be more generous.
