Rugby player awaits surgery
MALCOLM BARNES must wait until tomorrow to have surgery on a dislocated and fractured vertebrae in his neck.
The Guernsey Rugby Club scrum half sustained the injury during Saturday's win over Dorking at Footes Lane and is currently in hospital in Somerset awaiting an operation. Surgeons are confident he will make a full recovery.
GRFC head coach Jordan Reynolds said yesterday that the injured star is in good spirits and still laughing about this picture taken on Sunday.
'Malcolm said "get a photo with me looking really grumpy and you trying to cheer me up". He laughs every time he sees it.'
Mr Reynolds said that he has been amazed by the messages of support Barnes has received via social media and through the club.
'Everyone seems keen to help him out,' he said.
