Les Beaucamps head announces his retirement
LES BEAUCAMPS High head teacher Peter Le Cheminant will retire at Easter after 21 years in the role.
Mr Le Cheminant, pictured, announced his plans to students yesterday before sending out a letter to parents to inform them of his decision.
He said that he felt Easter would be an appropriate time to step down because it would coincide with the completion of the new school project.
'It seems to be a good time to go,' he told the Guernsey Press yesterday. 'I wanted to see the project through and I have now got to that stage where it is time to retire.
'Obviously when I do leave there will be a great sense of sadness. 'It hasn't been an easy decision to retire when I have such a big investment in the school professionally and emotionally.
'But I have got to retire at some point.'
n The Education Department did not wish to comment yesterday on Mr Le Cheminant's decision.
