Flooding hits the island

FLOODING has hit different parts of the island after heavy rainfall.

Roads including the Pont Valliant, Vale, Route de la Tourelle, St Peters, Coudre, St Peters and Les Vauxbelet, St Andrews, were impacted.

Part of Vazon coast road was shut at about 1.30pm for emergency pumping of flood water by Guernsey Water.

Forest Road, which was shut because of a dangerous overhanging branch, has now reopened.

A severe weather warning is in place for tonight.

Southwesterly winds are expected to increase peaking between 6pm and midnight at severe gale F9 with gusts to 70mph.

Some structural damage may occur.
