A HOSPITAL ward that closed earlier this week due to an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting has now reopened.

Health and Social Services announced yesterday that the number of patients who continued to have symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting in Victoria Wing, the private patient ward at the PEH, had considerably reduced compared with earlier in the week.

'They will remain in isolation for a further 48 hours after the symptoms have passed, but this improvement has enabled the department to make preparations for returning to normal activity,' said a spokesman.

'A deep clean of the ward has recently been completed and Victoria Wing has now been reopened for new admissions.'
