Vazon sea wall repairs 'could cost more than Perelle's £500,000'...

VAZON'S sea wall breach is likely to cost even more than Perelle to fix, a major civil engineering firm has warned.

Perelle had a 10-metre wide section swept away in October 2012 and cost £500,000 to mend.

The Vazon hole is slightly smaller – 7.5 metres across – but a large chunk of car park was also swept away on Monday night.

The Environment Department yesterday completed installing rock armour to prevent further damage.

But it could be several months before it goes out to tender for permanent repairs.
