New Moores mural to feature famous islanders

Moores Hotel has applied to change the painting by the side of the Hideaway.

Karel Harris, managing director of Sarnia Hotels, which owns the hotel, said the current mural had been there for 10 years.

Another had been there 10 years before that – and the current one has now started to crack and fade.

'At the moment the picture is very generic, it's got more of a Mediterranean feel rather than Guernsey,' she said.

'With the new mural, next to the Conservatory, there will be a small local scene; we haven't yet decided what that will be. On the other side there will be a balcony with lots of significant Guernsey people.'

She said the identity of those people would be a surprise.

The new mural is expected to be unveiled around May.
