Education 'made the right decision' on exams

WAITING to study the impact of education reform in the UK makes sense, school professionals have said.

As Guernsey prepares to turn its back on the English secondary school system for three years, unions and education officials have said it is the right decision.

Les Beaucamps High School head teacher Peter Le Cheminant, pictured, believed it was in the best interests of the island not to blindly follow changes being introduced by Education Secretary Michael Gove.

Changes include reducing the focus on coursework.

'I would support Education's preferred option. Really it is a middle ground, it is cherry picking from different exam boards and see what happens with the English system,' said Mr Le Cheminant.

In the future you can't. And 100% will be on the final exam.'
