Charity calls for Child Services accountability
CHILD Services locally must be held more accountable to ensure that families feel they are getting a fair decision, False Allegations Support Organisation director Margaret Gardener said at a meeting of a new family charity.
Justice For Families was formed earlier this year after it became clear that there was widespread concern among islanders about how the family court and the social services were operating.
Despite the warm spring afternoon, more than 30 people attended to hear the group's first public speaker at the Grammar School on Saturday afternoon.
Mrs Gardener, pictured, said she was particularly impressed that three deputies had got behind the cause and attended the meeting – Laurie and Lester Queripel and John Gollop. While she has worked in the UK, she said the same problems were faced by families in many countries.
'Almost everywhere, it is not transparent and accountable and that's what families want,' she said.
FASO is a UK-wide charity which aims to help to support those who are victims of false claims.
