Angela Marquand and Val Guilbert help to run toddler group Musical Guet Together, which meets every Wednesday at St Matthew's Church Hall.

They said that the parents and grandparents who come along to the group were looking forward to having the new facility.

The Cobo Community Centre Committee, in conjunction with the Guernsey Press, has launched a £1m. appeal to try and get the project off the ground.

The centre would have drastically improved facilities, would be able to accommodate people with a disability, have two meeting rooms, two halls and plenty of parking. It would also have an estimated income of £71,250 – an increase of £65,500.

While permission has been granted for a two-storey centre, the build will come at a cost of £1.4m.

The committee has so far raised £400,000, but needs at least another £500,000 within the next five weeks to enable work to start.
