Tractor seat comes loose

ONE of the controversial new tractor seats outside the Guernsey Information Centre was temporarily put out of action after becoming 'loose'.

The seat was repaired on Sunday morning by Floral Guernsey, which overhauled the busy area outside the North Esplanade building earlier this summer.

Legacy project leader Helen Litchfield said the new seating would be monitored to ensure no others suffered similar issues.

'There was a little teething problem with one seat working loose and a sign was put on it,' she said.

'The information centre has been checking them and found one to be loose.'

Ms Litchfield said that all of the seats were unique and individual and they would be monitoring them to ensure they remained in good working order.

'Obviously it is something we will keep a close eye on,' she said.

The installation of the tractor seats was greeted by a backlash of criticism.

They had replaced conventional benches at the site.

The St Peter Port constables have since stepped in and installed a bench as well.
