SUPERHEROES were some of those that took to the water for the final time last night, which was the last 30 Bays in 30 Days swim.

Hundreds packed Cobo bay yesterday evening for the final 30 Bays in 30 Days swim and it is believed more than £10,000 will have been raised for Les Bourgs Hospice, from more than 530 who took part.

Organiser Liz Stonebridge, 37, said it would now be an annual event.

Her mum had spent time in Les Bourgs Hospice before it was refurbished, so she knew how important the cause was.

'Last summer I tried to swim at as many places as I could between the clocks changing and it really made my summer.'

She said the feedback she had was really good.

'It is lovely because people have kept going, for some almost addictive.'

Participants did not have to do one swim a day. To adapt to busy lifestyles, they could 'bank swim', which meant they could do multiple swims in one day, if on other days they would not be swimming.

The minimum requirement was 30 strokes in each bay.

Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising administrator Trish De Carteret said last night it had raised more than £9,190 but that was without money collected at the final swim.
