Work to create two new classrooms and refurbish a third was completed last week.

This will allow the infant school to have a three-form entry and cope with the influx of students from St Sampson's Infants' School, which closed at the end of last term.

It will result in around 500 pupils travelling to the school every day.

Head teacher Gary Hind said a lot of preparation had been going on for months to get the school ready.

A former IT room has been converted into a library.

As the infant and junior schools now have a joint head teacher, the former infant head teacher's office has been made into an admin area.

That has allowed the former admin area to be used as part of one of the new classrooms.

As well as taking in St Sampson's students, staff and resources have also moved to the Vale.
