Prince William made him a Knight Bachelor of the British Empire at the ceremony.

The Bailiff was among four islanders honoured in this year's Queen's Birthday list in June.

The others were ActionAid volunteer Dr Glyn Allen, OBE, historian Dr Gregory Stevens-Cox, MBE, and arts stalwart Joan Ozanne, BEM.

Dr Allen received his award on Friday from the Prince of Wales.

The head of Guernsey's judiciary and presiding officer for the States Assembly has traditionally received the honour, but when the announcement was made in the summer, Sir Richard was both surprised and delighted that his had come after two years in office.
