Following on from their 7 Marathons in 7 Days feat, Philip Smith and Warren Mauger started running at 2am with their team.

'There was a complete mix, from one person doing his first marathon, some using it as training for big multi-day events, to some people joining for just the last few miles,' said Mr Mauger.

'It has literally attracted all standards. I can't believe there were so many people willing to give up a night's sleep.

'We don't feel too bad at all, I'm glad it's over, but there was a fantastic atmosphere and lots of camaraderie throughout. We all supported each other along the way.'

Mr Smith said running at night was 'amazingly peaceful'.
