A NEW bus service to serve the country parishes has not been advertised enough, according to some parish officials.

The Environment Department said that only 537 passengers had used the P1 service since it was introduced as part of the winter timetable at the beginning of October.

The circular route, which starts and finishes at the airport, uses a smaller bus running hourly to Vazon and back, going via the Longfrie, Le Mont Saint, Houguette crossroads, King's Mills, Sous L'Eglise and Hougue Fouque.

Forest constable Pierre Paul said more promotion was needed.

'It comes back to the whole issue of bus usage and whether people can be persuaded to swap their cars for public transport,' he said.

'I can't imagine that there would be too much congestion on that route, so it makes you wonder why people might want to leave their cars behind and catch the bus.'
