Vehicles will merge between Crown Pier and the Town Church to allow for wider lanes on both sides and a central refuge point for pedestrians.
The changes will be made in March on an experimental basis and if successful will be formalised next year.
Road layout changes announced for Town Quay
TRAFFIC will be reduced to a single lane heading south along the Town Quay and a 20MPH limit introduced as Environment attempts to make the area safer.
