'Today's message is all about love being equal no matter what sexual orientation or gender identity you are,' said Liberate chairperson, Martin Gavet.

'Two people of the same sex can fall in love just as much as two people of the opposite sex.'

The rainbow flag was designed by gay artist and civil rights campaigner Gilbert Baker in San Francisco in 1978 and it is a symbol of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender movement.

Each colour has a specific meaning. The flag was being flown on the Weighbridge mast for the first time.
