CULTURE and Leisure has been kept in the dark about the latest proposal for the new L'Ancresse golf course lease, minister Mike O'Hara has said.

A working party for the Vale Commons Council has put together the proposal, which would see the golf clubs paying the council £55,000 a year, for 25 years. The council would also take £2.50 a round from players, as well as an extra £3.44 from visiting players.

Culture and Leisure Minister Mike O'Hara said his department had not been sent a copy of the latest proposal, although it had been outlined to him.

'We are unaware of the details and business case that surrounds that offer, because they did not send it to us,' he said.

'We are disappointed this has not been relayed to ourselves, despite the fact the States has to be involved with the negotiations.'

He said the issue would be discussed by the board meeting. He also clarified that he would happily meet with the Vale Commons Council chairman, if he was invited to do so. He would also not make any comment about whether his department could step in to force a deal.
